Jeepin' It In Moab, UT

Thursday May 27, 2010
Spanish Trail RV Park ~ Moab, UT
10:38am MT ~ 87 degrees, strong gusty winds ~ We are in Moab, UT (elevation 5,000 +/-). Got here yesterday mid-afternoon - GORGEOUS!! We drove along Hwy 128, the scenic route that follows the Colorado River - BREATH TAKING (& sometimes butt cheek clinching)!!

I do believe this is one of the Jeepin'/rafting/outdoor capitals of the country. Getting ready to drive into Arches National Park (they're filming 3 movies there supposedly) & then going to do a little off-roading ourselves in the Jeeper. There are 3000 miles of roads/trails for off-roading & they range from 1 - 10. I certainly hope we stay on a -5 trail, ha, ha. Chip has a tendency to "go where you aren't granted permission" so it will be an adventure nonetheless. Nick is staying behind; he volunteered to "guard" the Allegro while we are Jeepin' it.

Will try to update soon with other "tales" & pix. I cannot quickly describe all that we have seen or experienced; it has been overwhelming to absorb at times. Between the co-piloting (sometimes piloting), shutterbugging, campground finding, journeling, etc., it's been a full-time job. Yes, it has been fun & a true, unbelievable adventure of a lifetime (for me anyway) but there are a lot of "to do's". I am SO glad we are stationary for 2 days (sometimes I need a bungie cord to walk around the RV while Chip is driving ~ especially in the high country). Tomorrow it's laundry, housekeeping, paying bills, photo organization & just plain catching up.

Meredith, Brad, Chase, Leslie, Sherbert & Harley - I really miss ya'll. The digital photo frame makes me feel like you are all close by. This trip would not be possible without the time & effort & support you have given us to make it a reality (you know, there's times this trip should be a reality show, gee's). Thanks for holding down the fort(s) while we are gone.

Tim Butler, thank you SO much for the tunes. They have been so appropriate for this trip. One in particular ~ we popped in the Eagles cd in Colorado in I70W right before we entered into Eagle, CO. Good timing!! We never made it to the Million Dollar Drive; that was further south than we had intended. We were actually leaving Rocky Mountain Nat'l Park, heading west across upper CO on 40 THEN changed our minds & headed to Moab, UT. That's the beauty of this type of trip. It's like being totally female, I (we) can change our minds. Thanks for all your support, too.

Sandy, love ya' but we ain't heading to the desert this time. Believe me, it's tempting & I'll miss you this time around BUT I will certainly be ready for a girls trip afterwards. Yep, bowling, O'kura's, San Diego, Red Robin (then some liposuction) & maybe a spa visit!! Princess time. Hello to Jeff, Gayle & Mike, Mom & Dad!!

Later taters!!
xoxox to all

P. S. If you see typo's here, sorry. Someone is BREATHING down my back to go Jeepin'!! And I so hate to work under "stress" ~ uuggghhh.

  1. I hate we won't see you....but the girls trip is on!! I need one too! I'd actually do the same trip as we did before, but see some other sites! And definately a spa day. I miss you and wish we could sip wine in Napa with you, but it doesn't look promising.....hey....how about Laughlin next month????
